Vampires – Do They Ever Eat Real Food?

Though you have probably never thought about it, have you ever seen a vampire eat anything other than blood? Probably not. But why is that? What is it that makes vampires so against food that they either puke or just ignore it altogether? The answer to this question lies in the type of vampire that you are talking about.

Most traditional legend and folklore depicts the typical Dracula-type vampire as not eating food and living solely off blood. For example, Dracula invites people over for a dinner and then they sleep over and he bites them and then the vampirism thing starts. But during that dinner, while the others eat, he is usually depicted as holding just a wine glass, which, knowing Dracula, is probably full of only the finest vintage of type AB positive. This traditional, or mythical, vampire can live completely off of blood and requires no other nutrients to survive. Hell, not even a blood sausage pizza or sandwich will fully quench the hunger of the mythical vampire. Even if they kept some large birds in vintage bird cages so they could have something to suck on as a snack, it would not satisfy them. Nope, these mythical vampires can only thrive off of real human blood.

However, mythical vampires are not the only types of vampires that are out there. Real vampires, like the ones living next door to you, still require blood to thrive, but they can also live off of normal food for some amount of time just to absorb nutrients that blood doesn’t have. These are called Sanguine Vampires and they look just like everyday people and they do eat normal food. However, they can’t live solely off of normal food alone. Obviously, if a vampire goes out to see a move (only at night) then they will probably bring a packet of blood with them to put on the popcorn during the film. Though this is messier than butter, no one will notice because movie theaters are dark. Most Sanguine vampires only drink blood in small doses, as they are not as cool as mythical vampires like Dracula that can gorge themselves on the red stuff.

So there you go. While it is true that vampires do need blood to survive and thrive, the real Sanguine ones are not limited to it like cooler mythical ones are. In fact, I’m fairly sure that if Dracula were alive today, he would leave all of the normals alone and go after these wussy Sanguine Vampires first just to rid the world of them.
